Wildfires continue to threaten land and property throughout the southeast region. Fifteen Tennessee counties are under an open fire ban, including Blount County through December 15th. Outdoor activities currently banned in Tennessee are: campfires, lighting fireworks, smoking cigarettes, and parking a car off-road.
The National Weather Service issued a special weather statement today:
PATCHY SMOKE WILL REMAIN OVER THE EASTERN TENNESSEE VALLEY AND SOUTHERN APPALACHIANS TODAY AND TONIGHT… SEVERAL WILDFIRES ACROSS THE REGION ARE PRODUCING AREAS OF SMOKE…REDUCING VISIBILITIES TO ONE MILE OR LESS LOCALLY AT TIMES…AND PRODUCING UNHEALTHY AIR QUALITY CONDITIONS. AREA RESIDENTS AND VISITORS SHOULD REMAIN INDOORS OR LIMIT THEIR OUTDOOR EXPOSURE.
